When fuel pumps go out today your car stalls and dies. I filled up my 58 Impala one Friday night ( a whopping $ 4.35 for a full tank ) and my fuel pump broke and leaked 1/2 of the gas out in just 15 miles. I bought a new pump for 4 bucks, paid 5 bucks to have it installed at a gas station in Grand Prairie, Texas. My take home pay was $ 42.00 per week, so this was a " big deal "
